A recent eye-infection cost me $125 for a tiny bottle of anti-biotic! Along with action on health care - we also need anti-trust action. This is outrageous price gouging and it would not be happening if we had true competition instead of monopolies in the pharmaceutical industry.
My beloved sister Beverly is the reason I would like to share my story. First and foremost, my reason for voting for President Obama was because he wanted change and so do I. I feel blessed and fortunate to live in this present time. I will be able to tell my grandchildren about the great changes I witnessed in my lifetime. Unfortunately for my sister we were not able to afford adequate health care, so she had to rely on our government to help her with many serious medical issues. We watched a very beautiful and loving person, slowly... (more)
My wife sufers of Hepatitis C for more than a decade and the cost of treatment has been outrageous, fortunately, she was covered by her former employer helth insurance but now she is out of work like milions of americans and we can no longer afford the cost of living on one pay cheque alone, besides we are in chapter 13 bankruptcy and would like to see an reform on that too. I believe in Barack Obama, I believed before and I will support him to bring this country to where once was the proud, the brave and the strong USA.
This is the greatest country on earth. There is no reason in the world that we should not have a single payer national health care system. A single payer system is not socialism. A single payer system is not communism. I pay a lot of money in federal taxes. I would rather that money went to the public good than to subsidizing oil/gas/coal companies, paying no-bid contracts to KBR, or paying more so that those at the top can pay less. Current costs for individuals are way too high. American citizens should not have to be put at risk of... (more)
I was diagnosed with spondylitis arthritis at the age of 13, I am now 17. I am lucky enough to have a great health care plan so that my Remicaid infusions almost cost me nothing at all. But when I turn 18 in a year, I will have to find my own health care plan. With the Remicaid infusions costing over $8,000 not many health care plans cover it to the extent that the cost is less than one thousand dollars. This worry has forced me to move to Sweden where they have universal health care. I am hoping that with the help of President Obama that I... (more)
I lost my job and do not have insurance and have high blood pressure so I need health care. So I can live a long life for my kids.
I am a Barber in the state of Texas. I was on my spouses insurance until she was laid off. My family is now on Cobra which we will no longer be able to afford next month. I have two children one 10 and one 7. I am 35 with high blood pressure. My meds are too expensive without insurance. We have one income and i am trying to keep my house from foreclosure. My wife was laid off from Bank of America/Countrywide.
It is a travesty that we do not have basic health coverage for everyone. People should not have to go broke because they get sick. People should not have to choose between necessaties and medicine.
I'm a full time student, I live and pay everything on my own. Because of the necesity of flexible schedule, I have 2 part time jobs, with no benefits of any kind. I work for two strong multimillionaire companies that i rather not mention. I can't get sick becuase I don't have insurance of any kinda, and if i do, i have to pay hundreds of dollars just to see what do i have. Sometimes i do not even go to a doctor due to my financial situation. Please set reasonable prices for for a services that everybody should be allow too. The United States... (more)
My friends who are in their late 60's had to declare bankruptcy due to high cost of healthcare. They were unable to pay for their prescriptions and pay their bills. The cost of prescriptions and the high cost of medical treatments are effecting many in the United States. My wife works in the home care industry and many people are not afford to pay for home care due to the high cost of home care services. Medicaid cannot take care of everyone. It's important to do something about this issues before its too late. With baby boomers entering... (more)
I am bi-polar and need help! No insurance has left me literally going crazy! My life is slowly falling apart.
Although I make decent income still can not afford to get a decent care and I know a family member how could not afford the cost of health care moved out of the country to get help somewhere else!
Please consider a single-payer plan. John
I am the father of a 12-year-old who has homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. He had a cholesterol level of 977 at two years old. It is a nearly untreatable condition. Doctors told us at the time that he would probably start having heart attacks and die at about nine years old. The disease is supposed to be untreatable but he has responded somewhat to an adult dose of Crestor, which is allowing him to live a relatively normal existence. HOWEVER, because of his condition, I cannot ever let our insurance lapse (pre-existing condition... (more)
In September 2003, I was injured in a car accident. Though the accident was not my fault, we ended up in legal proceedings as his insurance company refused to pay for damages. The accident caused a disc in my spine to tear to the point that surgery was necessary. I couldn't work (I'm an RN) and I needed help taking care of my 9 month son. After a few failed minimally invasive surgeries, my medical coverage through my auto policy agreed to pay for a disc replacement in January 2005. The surgery worked and I began to heal. Unfortunately, our... (more)
I actually LEFT THE COUNTRY, and went to live in Belgium, where socialized medicine is a practical way of life -- THAT's how strongly I feel about this issue. (And by the way, it WORKS here in Belgium!) I am still an American citizen and I still vote. They are just nice enough to let me stay here and take advantage of their system. Maybe if it changes in the U.S. I'll come back. ;-)

I can not afford the copay for physician visits. By time I can afford the copay (robbing paul to pay peter) the illness subsides or worsen. My daughter needs to go to a specialist for her toe walking, but I can not afford the 50.00 copay. Right now my husband has an infection not emergent enough to go to the emergency room. my husband has to wait 24 hours, in pain until payday in order to afford the 30.00 copay.
My grandmother was denied medicaid long term care in the state of Texas because of qualifying measures. I am 36 years of age... (more)
Having access to adequate health care has always been an issue in my life. I recall as a teenager in 1988 a time when my mother needed life-saving gall bladder surgery, but due to the fact that both of my parents were self-employed and the cost of health insurance/benefits was so high, she put it off until it was almost too late.
As a mother of three children; one of which has asthma, frequent pneumonia, etc., I certainly feel the need for health care coverage that is affordable, accessible, and realistic. Being self-employed myself, I have... (more)
