Mi_60 I am 62 years old and without health insurance. The only possibility I have for a decent plan is a group plan through an employer, but at my age the chances of finding decent employment that provides health care is slim to none. My only other option is an expensive private plan, which is completely out of my reach. When, not if, I get ill I will be one of the uninsured placing a burden on the emergency room of a local hospital. My only other option will be to stay home and die.

Mi_60 My best girlfriend since grade school passed away from colon cancer at the age of 49 because she lacked medical health insurance. She tried seeing a doctor because of rectal bleeding, but once they learned she had no health insurance, treatment was refused. I still miss my friend Beth every day of my life and know she would still be here had she had medical insurance. Please do not let other young women and men die, health care should be a right of every citizen of the U.S. I also want to praise President Obama for keeping this campaign... (more)

Mi_60 Our health care costs are so high that between premiums and deductibles we pay almost a third of my husband's salary. I do not have a healthcare plan through my work. When my husband went into the hospital for a suspected heart attack in March, the medical bills ate up every dollar we had, plus all of our tax refund -- all the money we needed for daycare for our three children over the summer. We had to take out a loan to care for our own children. This must stop. We are going into debt year after year just to pay for basic needs. We simply... (more)

Mi_60 Hello I am an American living in Australia and I voted for President Obama. I am so proud of the image I now see as an American living in another country. I really wish that Mr. Obama could see the progress Australia has made with Universal Healthcare. My three children are assured to always have access to good doctors, no matter what our income may be at the time. I love the fact that at no time we are faced with losing our home or assets due to lack of health insurance. Please review health systems in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and... (more)

Mi_60 Access to health care limits my family's options when it comes to job choice. I have health care through my job, but it does not cover my wife, we have to pay for a plan we can't afford to get her totally inadequate coverage. We have a family income under $50k a year, and it is impossible for us to get ahead.

Mi_60 I work with many veterans, many of whom do not have health insurance of their own and do not qualify for full health care in the VA system. Our veterans deserve better health care, if anyone does.

Mi_60 I have spent 40 years in the as an educator. I have taught every level from preschool to college. I chaired our techers' negotiating team for 12 years immediately following 94-142 Family health care benefits were at the top of our list of proposals. and we gave up salary to get them. The security of these benefits, when raising a family, is immeasureable. You will find me doing whatever I can to ensure that congress is aware and behind the principles that you have set out. Sincerely

Mi_60 I pay over $4.00 an hour for my health care, part of a union plan, so we can't change it unless everyone in the state decides to. Blue cross knows this so they keep raising it. Oh yeah we also don't have dental or optical.

Mi_60 I would prefer a single payer system but anything that you can do to help those young families that have no access to health care unless they show up at the emergency room. I cant even imagine what that must cost and then they are still left without preventative care. So many are completely without health care which is a shame on this country.

Mi_60 My daughter was born three months early and required multiple test, Heart Surgury, and round the clock care for over 101 days in the RINICU Unit at our local hospital. With a hospital bill totalling over a million dollars, I believe that healthcare reform is needed more now that ever. Look to our neighbors to the north for guidance, as they have had great success with socialized healthcare for many years, as well as many Countries around the world.

Mi_60 I'm a single women who lost her good-paying job and employer-paid health insurance on January 25, 2001. The company didn't provide COBRA, so I had to convert to a private, individual insurance plan. Today my health insurance costs $426.26 per month. It covers most preventive procedures (with a co-pay), but only 75% of in-hospital expenses. I have no dental, optical, or prescription coverage. All those expenses are out-of-pocket. Since I no longer have a good-paying job or free health insurance, I rarely see my doctor or dentist. I... (more)

Mi_60 Having a sad story would probably make my concern for affordable and available Health Care for everyone more emphatic. However, I don't have such a story. Oh, I hate the rising cost of Healthcare and copay as my employer continues to use their cost as a reason for increasing copay and denying raises, but I have been lucky so far. I am in reasonable health, a job, and can still enjoy a treat now and again. Here is where my concern comes in. Others don't have the same advantages. I could almost cry when I see people who are lost on what... (more)

Mi_60 I personally have many health care stories. The things that happen in this country to people without healthcare should be a crime. I watched my grandmother sew my grandfathers leg up from a chainsaw accident because we had no health insurance. We were farmers with barely enough money to pay bills, healthcare was always out of our reach. Now that I work at Delphi Steering I have healthcare but I can barely afford all the things that i still have to pay out of pocket for. This country has become absolutely rediculous with its costs. I have been... (more)

Mi_60 My husband and I have insurance coverage through my employer. The coverage is considered very good; however, co-pays and deductibles have become so high that we are having trouble paying them. I had to put a hospital bill on a credit card in order not to be sent to collection by the hospital. I have had a difficult time making payment arrangements, that fit my budget, with another hospital and continue to get threatened with collections. In order to get the best treatment for a back problem, my doc wants me to go through a series of... (more)

Mi_60 Healthcare as played a huge part in my mommy's death and almost in mine. It also played a part in my baby girl's passing and it's time the Government steps up.
