ive worked two jobs most of my life. Have been working since I was 14 years old. Started my own business a few years ago, and now find myself without healthcare. Its crazy if I get sick now , ill lose everything ive worked for.
I have lived in 7 different countries with far better quality, affordable health care. This is especially true for seniors.
The USA has the capacity (abundant resources) to be a leader.
I work for Dade County Public Schools and eveery year our insurance covers less and costs more. It is very hard to afford payments for our dependents. We need great changes in health insurance. I, even with insurance was not able to do a follow up chec up for breast cancer. Deductibles are very high. I also see how so many of my adult students are unable to obtain health care when needed. We, please, need changes in our health care system. It is shameful how other countries like England, Canada, France etc. have great health programs for their... (more)
My mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, that diagnosis led to a quick death for my mother when I was 15 years old. I am now a mother of two with low income and I cant afford to financially cover the screenings that I need to avoid the sickness that most woman face today. My employer offers medical insurance but the premium is in no way affordable. I am in high hopes of President Obama's plan to reform the healthcare in America.
I am 63 years old, I amd single and was paying over $400.00 and month out of my pocket for health insurance. two years ago the business I was in fail and I was force to drop the insurance, now I have no idea if I what is happen with my body. All over the country people are suffering because they can not offord healthcare. Still these selfish people a working to block the Presidents healthcare plan and thus deny a large section of the population the right to good health....It is a burning shame that some people can be so evil. Stand up everyone
Here is my story and a general comment on the US Health Care Policy (lack of):
In order for the US workers to be competitive, we must have a basic Health care available to all of the US Citizens and legal Residents. The companies are utilizing more and more part-time workers and contractors in order to avoid paying benefits.
The Preventative Health care must promote and encourage yearly check-ups for the entire US population and be prejudice free from the pre-existent conditions. It is a shame that people cannot buy or qualify for the... (more)
I am 29, and currently find myself without health insurance. Ihave always had ins. through an employer, in the past and have taken it for granted. My current employer is a small business owner and can not afford to offer ins.
I work in Health care and recently 2 years ago had emergency triple bi pass surgery I will be paying for the rest of the next 5 years for my hospital stay thank god I had insurance my wife is a nurse and she was just laid off from work because the company is going to per diem here in south florida now she will get unemployment but it is only 1/4 of her salary
All this system doesn't work. If you have insurance they charge this if not you will be working on bill if something happen to you. All doctors are businessman and sometimes they are not caring so much about people. System should be changed. I agree and support president!
My wife Julia was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2007, during the 30-day waiting period for a health policy we had applied and been accepted for. The cost of out of pocket care, including radical mastectomy surgery, chemotherapy and post surgical care would have put us in bankruptcy.
I was able to treat my wife successfully in South America, for about one fifth of the cost of similar treatment in the USA. After the pre-existent condition of one year passed, the insurance company THEN refused to cover any further expenses because... (more)
I do not have a story, but I can tell you that lower co-payments paid to doctors visits will have a great impact on middle class families. Health care plans are diffrent and co-payments are different too. It shall be some reduction on all levels to make it easier for people in great need. Of course, insurance agencies will oppose any changes because their profits are in great danger. If this situation does not change the health care system will accumulate large amounts of debt to be paid by middle class families. Can we afford this? Is it fair... (more)
I recently retired from the airline industry. After working my whole life there in Management, part of the concessions we had to give up was our retirement health care. Now with my retirement health care that I purchase, prescriptions are high. I don't know what would happen if I had to go into the hospital.
The system as it is today is shameful. As the richest country in the world, we treat our sick the worse. It shouldn't be about money and profit, but saving lives and caring for our fellow men, women and children. I hope you succeed in bringing back our humanity to the table. Thank you. I love you, Barack Obama!
About two and a half years ago I was diagnosed with diverticulitis - I had an abscess on my large intestine. My primary doctor rushed me to the hospital where I received excellent care and I was well on my way to complete recovery after a months stay in the hospital. At that time I has catastrophic insurance at a very high premium, as I am self employed. The deductibles and co-payments were also very high. My recovery was slow as I was without 70% of my Large Intestine also, a portion of my stomach had to be removed. During my recovery I was... (more)

I am a 72 year old widow with a disabled adult child. It took me over 2 years to get him declared disabled by social security. I suffer from depression & it's impossible to get an individual policy for less than approx. $1200.00
The cost of drugs is impossible
I have to send for drugs out of this country because i need them and cannot pay the inflated cost here.I'm sure this story applies to alot of people and maybe some can't even get them fom other countries. This is a must do.
If I did not have a foreign husband who could affort to pay $1,400.00 a month for health care just for me, then I would be uninsured. That is how much I pay a month just because of preexisting conditions.
