I am a doctor myself, I trained here in USA, it is unbelievable the amount of money and resources we wasts everyday for no benefit, I think we can manage with the same quality with at least half the current cost, If some of the rules and laws change.

We have the greatest healthcare in the world yet only the wealthy or chosen few have access to all of its resources. It's time we stand up, make history and declare that healthcare for all is an American right for all! Act now and help make history.

Sitting here thinking of my current situation. It is good and bad at the moment...bad, I have bronchitis and at 65 years of age it is a difficult thing to have. On the bright side I have excellent medical insurance. I don't have to fear the after hours clinic bill or the doctor appointment visit tomorrow, even if the insurance doesn't cover everything I can pay for it. It is appalling to think of anyone in our great country not having adequate health care. We must do whatever is necessary to assist these people in dire need of personal... (more)

I am a physician. I have been in practice since 1980. I heard all the "hype" about HMOs in the 1980's, how "competition in the market place" would generate so much excess revenue that we would easily be able to pay for the uninsured. In fact, I served on the board of our local HMO for several years in the 1980's. But it was all a lie. The "marketplace," dominated by "competing insurance companies" has simply taken 25% of the health care dollar for themselves. They have hired umpteen thousands of people... (more)

I am a "surviving spouse" of an "active" Delphi Salaried Employee (my husband was an Engineer for Delphi Corp at the time of his unexpected death in 2005). I had received The Letter that all the Delphi Salaried Retirees received in February 2009, stating that their health benefits were being CANCELLED effective April 1, 2009.
However, I was also laid off from my own job on March 13, 2009, where the benefits for that job were going to be turned over to COBRA after 4 weeks. Even though the COBRA benefits were going to be... (more)

My mother is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's Disease. When she was diagnosed six years ago, she had adequate financial resources but less than optimum insurance coverage. She had a single-person Blue Cross policy but until Medicare Part D, no drug coverage. Medications to treat AD such as Aricept or Namenda are ridiculously expensive and although the prescription coverage has helped, many years it is expended quickly and we are again faced with out of pocket expenses. In addition, while she has wonderful caregivers 24-7, it costs... (more)

I have a family of 6 and the healthcare costs are making it so I have to pay $2000 deductible before they will pay for ANY diagnostic test. My costs have gone up each year and my benefits consistently have been decreased.

I have been blessed to have medical insurance for my family. I have been a teacher, and see many families without health insurance. Too many families must choose between health coverage or feeding their children. This is a basic need for families; food, shelter, and health. We are such a developed country, but our health care system is behind too many others. We need to look out for all. TEAM WORK!

As a doctoral student in public health, I feel strongly that the people of our country have a right to health. Further, I feel that our government is the appropriate foundation on which to base such reform. With rising health care costs, increasing globalization, the changing climate and epidemics such as obesity, the threats of pandemic influenzas and increasing antimicrobial resistance, more comprehensive medical care for all Americans is a necessity. Please provide long-term, unbiased care for all Americans- it is the one true way... (more)

I have worked in health care for more than 20 years, and it's disheartening to see all the people in this day and age who still don't have insurance in America; yet wealthy seniors can receive Social Security benefits they don't even need. Maybe if congressmen didn't have insurance and pensions for life they could better understand the plight of those who are denied the most basic of safety nets. My hospital cares for more poor in our area, Flint, Mi., than any other, yet gets no millage or public funding and is barely keeping its head above... (more)

I worked 35 years for a company with the promise of health care coverage after retirement. That coverage was eliminated with less than 2 months notice to employees on 4/1/2009. Now the cost for healthcare coverage is over 60% of my projected pension. And to make matters worse, the company, Delphi, is now threatening to turn our pensions over to the PBGC. This nightmare story of healthcare is ruining my health!!

My sister is 42 years old and has several health care issues. She does not have health insurance, and there are months when she has to decide whether to buy groceries or her meicane. In the United States of America, that should never happen.

I have multiple sclerosis.
When people who have health insurance are injured and require physical therapy to be able to walk, their doctors prescribe physical therapy and the health insurance companies cover it.
My husband has been employed by General Motors, and has had the luxury of what some say is the best health insurance coverage in the country. But because General Motors is "self-insured" ... because General Motors employs Blue Cross Blue Shield to REJECT a certain percentage of claims ... when my neurologist writes a... (more)

Working college students who are not protected under family health care plans are left unprotected. We take longer to graduate since we have to support ourselves and study at the same time. Without coverage from parents we do not have coverage. How is this our fault? We cant finish school and get a job with benefits over night, especially in this economy. This is unfair. The "too bad, get a job" Religious-elitist-neocon approach is unreasonable. Please help.

I have twins who graduated from college a little over a year ago. Neither have jobs, and both are without healthcare after December. My daughter has health care issues, and will need support from us to help until she can find a job with benefits, or one that pays enough for her to purchase her own. I am disabled, so this is a difficult position for all of us. I urge Congress to embrace the needs of the Nation's uninsured or underinsured to be covered by basic health care.

My grandmother died of altzirmers and while being cared for she went throught slot of her own personal money after Heath care that she worked so hard for. We need to nationalize the system. We need to be the country we can be.

I've been "living" with bipolar disorder for over 25 years now. I've lost many jobs due to my mental health issues as well as having to claim bankruptcy and suffering a foreclosure. It also ended a 23-year relationship and resulted in two suicide attempts.
In December of 2007, I applied for Social Security Disability. I received my approval in February of 2008. My benefits began in May of that same year. That was also when I was told that Medicare coverage for SSD begins 24 months after my benefits begin. But here's the Catch-22:... (more)
