Fl_60 My husband and I have 5 children and no health insurance. The health department won't see my husband, my 18 and 19 year old sons or myself. I don't have enough money for a 150$ doctors visit each time one of us gets sick. So, I began only taking 1/4 of the antibiotics of a perscription when we HAVE to see a doctor and then I have some left for a few more illnesses. Please help us, we know you can.

Fl_60 My name is Cachina King Mack; My American dream was to become a lawyer. With the love and support, and finances of my mom, Ms. Elma King and Family,I became one. As a citizen of this country and the proudness I have for this country, I truly believe everyone should have affordable health care. No citizen in this country should never have to choose between... Fl_60 Health care MUST be overhauled! The costs are just too high & people MUST be allowed to choose their Doctors and the type of medicine the choose for themselves. I was in the hospital and the hospital gave me MRSA. To make a long story short, they required over 2 painful months to save my life. Just the bill for the hospital was over 1/4 million dollars. Since then I have been back in the hospital 5 times and each time they insist ion running the same expensive tests even though most of those hospital stay were within less than a... (more)

Fl_60 I have been in private practice for the past 16 years in the Heart of Florida. The one public hospital, Polk General, which was providing quality care regardless of insurance coverage, was closed 10 years ago, (under pressure from corporate owned hospitals) Now I have patients whose credit is ruined, due to enoromous medical bills as a result of overcharging and lack of alternative choice of hospital care.

Fl_60 I am in the process of declaring bankruptcy because of health care cost. My daughter was diagnosed with clinical depression, OCD and some self mutilation. She took a medical leave from college for a year, luckily her medical insurance she purchased through the school was valid until the following school year. Even with insurance I was paying up to $600 a month in co-pays and RX's. In the middle of all this she developed a case of walking pneumonia that lasted for months. Which means more prescriptions. Did you know depression isn't... (more)

Fl_60 I am a 42 year old woman. When I was 3 years old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. There was nothing that could have been done to prevent this. I did nothing "wrong", and neither did my parents. As a result of this almost 40 year old diagnosis, I cannot buy health insurance. I can only get coverage as part of a group. As a result, either my husband or I have to always be employed full time with an employer that offers insurance benefits. We have been fortunate to have some coverage for most of our 17 years of marriage,... (more)

Fl_60 Last year, the battery in my implanted defibrillator weakened to the point of replacement. I entered the outpatient surgical facility at 11:00 AM and was discharged at 9:00. The cost to medicare and my supplement policy was $46,000 for just the implement and use of the surgical facility. The surgeons fee was about $1,100 more. Is this not a bit high for a battery change? No wonder medicare is in trouble. I spent 30 years of my life educating physicians as a professor of physiology and biophysics and am well aware of the time and rigorous... (more)

Fl_60 I'm a 4 year veteran of the US Army and a Nurse. In the service health care was universal. We were all taken care of. I worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center my last 2 years 02-04. I saw what health care was like without HMO's and financial restrictions. In short, its a beautiful thing. Money was saved because illness was treated before it became out of hand. Something as treatable as hypertension could be diagnosed before it became a stroke or heart attack. It should be a right to have health care. And America should be leading the way in... (more)

He is a Master Plumber and must drive for any job he has. I have recently been hired part time as a peer specialist since I have a persistence and chronic mental illness. We can not live and keep... Fl_60 I currently have several hospital bills. Choosing to go to the hospital instead of the doctor wasnt what I wanted to do but I had no other choice. I am only 19 years old and in debt all because of my health. When I'm sick I stay sick until I simply cannot take it anymore and I go to the hospital. I nor anyone else should have to put their life in perril just because we dont have health insurance. If I'm sick I shouldn't have to worry about selling my car just to be able to pay for a hospital bill. We need change!

Fl_60 This person is partially blind. He works full time( not a fancy job!). However, medical costs are beyond his very basic living expenses...hence he has never attempted to seek mediacl help to improve his vision. At 30 he has a long life ahead of him. He wants to go to college and enhance his life. Finance is the BIGGEST hurdle.
