Fl_60 I am an artist, and have a bare bones catastrophic policy, and even that is more than I can afford. I rarely go to the doctor, and do self treatment and self diagnosis. We are the only industrialized nation in the world that does not provide free health care for all of it's citizens. Please help the millions of us who cannot afford health care! thank you.

Fl_60 I support your efforts at healthcare reform. This is the United States of America after all, and there is no reason why each and every American citizen should not have access to quality medical care. The fact that healthcare in this country is simply about money and making a profit is something that we should be ashamed of. However, I would like to ask what part of the reform covers people who cannot afford any health insurance at all? I was an executive in the airline industry until the airline I worked for went under. We lost our jobs... (more)

Fl_60 I am 39 years old, and I have gone nearly my entire life without insurance of any kind. I was raised in a single parent household, and my mother raised the three of us, making barely over the minimum wage. Back then, insurance for children was unheard of. Throughout my entire life, I have never had a checkup or a physical. I cannot afford routine preventative care, cannot afford to see a woman's doctor--in fact, I've never seen one. I go to the doctor when I am practically on my death bed. Today, I work as an adjunct instructor,... (more)

Fl_60 This is the situation with my son. He served as a proud member of the United States Air Force four years and now he is back at school with no health insurance because he cannot afford the high premiums, meanwhile he is looking at illegal aliens getting free medical who are not legal residents and who have not served this country. It is time to make Healthcare available to all Americans.

Fl_60 I am in support of Healthcare Reform. My baby brother lost his job. While his wife works, she is unable to afford the insurance offered by the company she works for. This is unfortunate given that their baby is asthmatic and in constant need of medical care. I have been providing financial support, which has placed a strain on my own marriage. Making healthcare cost more affordable not only eleviates the burden of having to choose to purchase food or medicine, it is morally the right thing to do.

Fl_60 I'm a stay at home mom after working almost my whole life and had to purchase health insurance both for myself and my six month old daughter. It's so expensive that with my partner taking care of the finances by himself, we went with coverage that is ok but not what I'm used to. It's scary to know that we might be one catastrophic illness away from disaster. Also, my parents have had a really hard time paying for their healthcare. Like so many others, they lost lots of money in the stock market and had to change their lifestyle. My Dad... (more)

Fl_60 I am the Director of Pastoral Care in a hospital. Everyday I see more and more people who can not afford healthcare. Older people sometimes go without food to buy prescriptions and vise versa. Younger people are not able to afford health insurance and/or do not work for a company that provides healthcare benefits. The state of the economy, the continuing unemployment does not prevent people from getting ill. Quite the contrary. With all the added stress of trying to make it in today's America, people become more stressed and some of that... (more)

Fl_60 I have a full time job with benefits available to my family but I can't afford it! I need my pay check on full to pay the bills and I can't even save for a decent retirement. Everything is more expensive and what I make is not enough, my parents don't even have benefits and health insurance, they recently lost their jobs and now I have to help them on top of everything else, I pray that none of us gets sick because I don't know what would happen! I have high hopes for Barack Obama and I don't know if he is going to be able to come through with... (more)

Fl_60 If my carrier had not covered my gastric bypass 5 years ago I would be dead by now. It cured my obesity, my hypertension and my diabetes. All three of these conditions would have cost the health care system far more as my health declined. Instead, yesterday I celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary with my wife and sons as the picture (well, not entirely - I have put some weight back on) of perfect health. I recently had blood work done in follow up and all is well. Recently, carriers have made it nearly impossible to get these life-changing... (more)

She has good health insurance through her employer but my daughter has to pay over $6000. in out of pocket expenses. Fl_60 I believe in preventing health problems before they begin by eating organic, healthy food, exercising and reducing stress. I would like health insurance companies to allow their customers to choose whatever doctor they would like to go to, whether on the plan or not, including naturopaths, Oriental medicine, massage, colonics, vitamin testing, energy healing, or any other alternative medicine. If this is done, we can prevent problems before they begin, thereby reducing healthcare costs.

Fl_60 Because of high health care costs, I have been without health care throughout my forties and fifties and now in my sixties. My only comfort is that I'll soon be eligible for Medicare. But that doesn't help my daughter and her family, who have been without health insurance since she lost her job two years ago. We have looked into purchasing a policy but the costs are just too high. If other countries (Canada, Great Britain) can figure out how to provide health care for their citizens, why can't America?

Fl_60 Several years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I underwent a bilateral mastectomy, followed by reconstructive surgery that utilized tissue from other parts of my body. Afterward, when some cancer cells appeared, I was told I needed aggressive chemotherapy and subsequent radiation. I was able to go through all of these lifesaving procedures because I had insurance through a group plan offered by my employer. During those years, I met many other people who could not afford the type of health care I was given, and had to elect either... (more)
