Nc_60 I am most concerned about the future cost of Healthcare. My wife and I have been retired over 10 years, and my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimers 3 years ago. We do have long term health coverage, but it will not take care of a lengthy illness. We also have Medicare, but it is getting harder to find doctors who accept it as payment. I don't blame the doctors. I think the amount Medicare pays them is far too low. Healthcare cost is a burden to retirees and their children.

Nc_60 In my opinion every citizen deserves to have reasonable heathcare irrespective of their income. This will help our country economic as well. We need to identify and fix the cost of heathcare over denying to our fellow citizens. I understand that it is unpopular among wealthy but it will help them indirectly in long run.

Nc_60 I am pretty fortunate to have good health care through my employer. However, several members of my family, including my Mother, are without health care because they are self-employed and cannot afford the insurance premiums. My mom is relatively young and in good health, but I worry that an extended illness or a hospital stay could really hurt them financially.

Nc_60 I am a cancer survivor. I was lucky enough to have job related health insurance. My treatments have cost over $700,000. I cannot imagine what a person without insurance goes through. The disease is bad enough without having to worry about how to pay for care.

Nc_60 Do not have a personal one but i have seen friends get sick with complications from High blood pressure and Diabetes because they do not get yearly exams because of luck of health care. I am originally from Uganda but even in Uganda everyone gets free medical care although it is not the best. There is nothing as frustrating as knowing you cannot go to the doctor because it costs $300 just for consulation. This is America surely we must come up with a better solution. Even Europe is better than USA. yes the lines might be long over there... (more)

Nc_60 I have excellent health care, thanks to a job in the private sector with a large company. However, this election was not about me or my family, but the well-being of our country. And we know how much other families are hurting due to lack of coverage/high costs. Blessed to have a President who is willing to work towards real change. We support this effort 100%

Nc_60 I have MS. When my husband lost his job in 2004 we were able to keep Cobra but had to borrow the money monthly to pay for our health insurance . We also have four children. In 2005 we started our own small business and have 6 employees. Our premium is high because of my condition and I am thankful now we are able to have coverage. However we pay $1200.00 a month and have a $5000.00 deductable. The costs are way to high and I am fortunate I now can pay, and I think everyday about people who cannot. We also at this time can help our employees pay... (more)

Nc_60 To treat bipolar disorder and PTSD, I require an extremely widely prescribed medicine, brand named Seroquel. Because I am currently unemployed, I receive these medications from Wake County Human Services in Raleigh, NC. When discussing payment options last time, I was told the county is paying $800, yes, eight hundred dollars per month for this medicine. I've been told by a mental health care professional that Seroquel is given out like candy -- and I shudder to think how much the pharmaceutical companies are robbing the government with... (more)

Nc_60 We have two children (ages 24 and 27), both of whom cannot afford health insurance. We cannot help them because our own health insurance premiums are so high - probably because my husband had heart surgery 4 years ago. I worry everyday that they may need emergency medical care and it will wipe them out financially. We need affordable coverage for everyone!!

Nc_60 I work in healthcare. I see a health care system that asks primary care physicians to function as the patient's medical home and coordinator of all care without the proper tools or payment to do so. A physician gets paid by the number of patients seen or procedures done but is not compensated for the ridiculous amount of follow up and paperwork that is required to contact specialists and hospitals to provide each patient with the care they deserve. We need to reform the payment system to reward the practitioners who are providing the best... (more)

Nc_60 My health insurance coverage will run out in a little over two months. Unless I can find a job that provides benefits, I will be unable to obtain coverage at any price because of my medical history. Nc_60 As a healthcare professional, I have seen and experienced the challenges where access and quality of care in limited by the cost. Healthcare professionals such as myself are caught in the complexities and irrational explanations of why a patient cannot receive the treatment they need because their insurance does not cover it. More over the cost of obtaining and maintaining insurance after a job loss is substantial that it forces individuals to take the risk of going without any insurance. The irony of this situation is that healthcare... (more)
