Ca_60 I have insurance, thank god. But I still have medical bills that are sent to me because my insurance does not cover it. I feel it's ridiculous that we pay a monthly preminum and still have out of pocket expenses for medical purposes. Or that our insurance only covers part of of a procedure.

Ca_60 I want national health care even if costs can not be reduced. I think we can save on paper work; but, the cost of better treatment for an aging population might become greater than what we save on insurance forms and related paper work.

Ca_60 When my husband was laid off in December 2007, he had the opportunity to get health coverage through COBRA, but it was over $700 per month!!! I was able to add him to my plan as a Government retiree, but the added cost was $575 per month. After a few months of this, we discovered that he would be covered under the VA (as a Vietnam Vet). I was able to take him off my plan and now he is completely covered by the VA and we pay a minimal ($15) copay for each visit. I wish that someone would have explained the process to us. I pay $175 per... (more)

Ca_60 Over 2 years ago, our youngest daughter, then 27 yrs old and living out of state, had insurance through her employer. However, when she became too ill to work, the insurance stopped and she could not afford the Cobra plan offered. She was hospitalized for almost two weeks, mis-diagnosed several times and was released with owing over $60K. Her only "saving grace" was that she got SSDI and Medi-Care will be available the first of June. At this time, she's looking for a job in order to meet her responsibilities, but bankruptcy may be... Ca_60 I teach in public education in California. With the massive budget cuts to my District, I fear they will not be in a position to help cover the costs for my health insurance. The District-paid health insurance has been one of the few benefits of working for them.

Ca_60 I'm lucky...after being laid off I still have health care insurance for another few months. The ARRA allowed us to keep our premiums at an affordable level. After Cobra runs out, premiums for myself and my husband (both primarily healthy at 45, taking a couple of maintence meds each) will shop for insurance. We anticipate it will be more than the $700 Cobra plan we have now, or coverage will be less. I say we are lucky, because good friends of ours just canceled their health insurance when premiums reached $2,000 per month. Jeff is... (more)

Ca_60 My parents are both in their 70's and my father has Alzheimer's. They have no retirement and rely on social security and medical to get by. Still, they have to spend hundreds of dollars a month for their prescriptions. I was shocked to learn how much a hearing aide costs! The elderly are being taken advantage of by the health care industry and it has got to stop!

Ca_60 When I turned 45 3 years ago my premium went up almost $200 a month, I had never had a claim. I was forced to cancel it and thats where I am uninsured. My wife and kids had insurance through her job, She was layed off, Insurance GONE. Now we are all uninsured and really see no way to get it back. Something is seriously wrong in this country when you make decent money and still can't take your kids to the doctor much less yourself. I'm 48 I probably should have had all those routine test by now to make sure I'll be here for my kids. I could... (more)

Ca_60 Hello President Obama! Both of my grown sons are without health care, and this has impacted their health decisions tremendously. One of my sons has a problem with his knee, and also has vision deficits in one of his eyes, but has no money to have those checked out. He knows that I have limited funds, and would rather I help him with college tuition, and with the type of health care needs that are immediate. People across the US are daily making decisions about what to spend their limited funds on. And there are no easy answers for how to... (more)

Ca_60 I am shortly going to be divorced with three kids (6 yrs., 3 yrs. and a 1 yr. old), a mortgage and bills/debt. I work for a small cooperative. My insurance plan will either be too expensive or have a ridiculous deductible. Every year the premiums are raised by the insurance carrier. This is going to put a real financial strain on my family. My mother stays home to watch our kids. She is a diabetic. She can not get affordable insurance with her pre-existing medical condition. Her only option is a not so funny joke. She would need to... C49d046_small Monica is a Medical Doctor. She has been for more than 2 decades. Her commitment has always been to make QUALITY, professional healthcare available to the UNDERSERVED. Ca_60 I am choosing to remain unemployed as that I can be covered by our local county hospital. I have had Type I Diabetes for almost 17 years. Since I have turned 18, I have been going through cycles of being uninsured that has taken a devastating toll on my overall health. If I find work, I run the risk of being denied insurance because of my pre-existing condition. And that's if they even offer insurance to begin with.

Ca_60 I have discovered that I am virtually uninsurable! I retired from County employment, did not want to pay exhorbitant fees to continue with their insurance, and have been told by insurance companies that my depression, although fully controlled by medication = so much so that I reached a very high administrative level that left me responsible for millions of dollars in contracts, was not insurable. I am outraged!!!!
