I am a 56 year old female unemployed with only my husband's insurance. He has a $2,500 deductible per person annually on his policy. The Prescription coverage is even worse. If it is a generic I have a $20 copy per month, non- formulary 35% of cost per month, and formalary is 50% of costs. As I have different issues and have 10 medications that I take daily and unfortunately even after trying to get as many generic as possible, so far this year my rx bill is over $4,000. I still have almost 2 months left, hopefully I won't get the flu or something and need something else. I owe $2500 to various doctors/hospitals and I pray they don't send me to collection before I can get a job. I was a BCBS of Il employee and had good coverage but when they fired me for unexcused illiness, mind you I was seeing a doctor, the Cobra was going to cost me with my dental over $500.00 a month for the coverage I had as an employee which I paid less than $50 a month for. With just losing my job we could not afford the Cobra medical. There has to be a better way of life for us out here. Come on, why is it as an employee they could give it to me for one amount and Cobra another amount? So now I just don't go to the doctor. I need to have tests down but I am not sure if somehow I am not going to get stuck with the bill.
