I retired a few years ago at a very early age. I soon found out that one of my highest expenses each month would be health insurance. I am less than 50 years old, extremely healthy with no pre-existing conditions. The first company charged me $220 a month with a $1500 yearly deductible. They rates soon skyrocketed to $270 a month. I have since switched companies to lower the rate, but had to go up to $3000 yearly deductible and pay $213 per month. That means before my insurance kicks in I pay $3000! This is on top of the $2556 per year for premiums. I am fortunate in that I can afford this, but it is a ridiculous amount.
