Brenda
My son was born at 26 weeks in 1998. He had multiple health issues--including mental retardation, blindness, and severe feeding issues. Eventually, his intestine stopped working and we put him on hospice. He died in my arms 4 days later. His seven years of life were constantly painful. Caring for him was exhausting and dealing with an inefficient, complicated health care system made everything worse. His and our lives would have been greatly improved with a well-functioning health care system.
