Many young people don't see a problem with the health insurance system we have because they are healthy. The problem is that, no matter how many years you pay into the system, the minute you get sick or old, your opinion will change.

I paid into the same insurance company for more than 30 years. It was a high deductible plan and I never had a claim and never cost them any money. The minute I turned 50, they tried everything in their power to push me out. I was still healthy with no outstanding issues, but every time I went to the doctor, they would call me with questions about everything I said. It got to the point, that I was afraid to ask the doctor a question for fear that the insurance company would get upset.

They finally raised the rates to $1,800 a month and so I applied for a higher, $8,500 deductible plan. That was a big mistake! They turned me down and once you have been turned down for health insurance for any reason, nobody will touch you. I finally had to go into a state program for "Uninsurable" people even though my health was basically fine.

If you are young and healthy and think your insurance is great, wait until you get sick or old. Only then will you know how good your insurance is.
