I am angry that, after nearly 30 years in the workforce and being a productive, tax-paying citizen, I will be unable to obtain affordable health insurance simply because I am getting divorced. I have been a professional but have always chosen to be insured under my spouse's insurance because it was more affordable and was the family plan option to cover the children already. Now, due to some pre-existing conditions, I MIGHT be able to get health care at almost $1,000/month, unless I can find a job in this economy that provides some form of more affordable group coverage. But I have been looking for that job for over a year..... and what will I do until then? We NEED to have an option for people who find themselves caught betwixt and between through no fault of their own. The "for profit" health care insruance industry is set up to make money, people, so that means that anyone who is sick or MIGHT get sick according to their actuarial tables - is NOT going to get insurance. And those are the ones who need it the most.
