In 1948, the United Kingdom put into law, a universal healthcare plan.
When my sister’s daughter was visiting my sister in Canada and came down with an upper respiratory infection, my sister’s government paid to treat her daughter. My own country would not have done that.
My sister’s mother-in-law became very ill and the doctor put her on six different medications. Within a few weeks, she became even more ill from the medicine prescribed by the doctor. She had every side effect possible, lost over 30 pounds in a few weeks. She became angry with the doctors and stopped taking her medicines. In week, her memory was back, as was her appetite, and she no longer had accidents. Conclusion: The drugs were killing her. The drug companies were ruling the doctors.
My sister’s stepdaughter needed physical therapy after her daughter’s birth. In a few weeks, the insurance company said she was no longer going to be able to get the physical therapy under the insurance. However, the doctor recommended that the therapy continue.
It’s time for us all to face what is inevitable — accept changes that need to take place. Our healthcare industry is sick and predatory.
If the United Kingdom, Canada, France, and many other progressive nations, can have a health care system that is fair to all patients, doctors, and professionals, so can the United States.
What are we waiting for? The only reason why this hasn’t yet passed is because of the lobbying that takes place by the owners of our healthcare system, big pharma and the insurance companies. They are the problem don’t want you to change they way they line their shareholders’ pockets.
