I am a 49 year old divorced RN, who was diagnosed with "MS" (multiple sclerosis) 3 years ago. Over night my life drastically changed,to never be the same again.

I will never work in patient care again. I am fortunate that the Hospital System I work for has made available to me 2 days a week from home so I can keep my insurance. If I were to lose this I am uninsurable.

The drugs to "hopefully" modify MS are over $15,000 a year, they have reached the time frame for generic competition BUT due to the power of the drug lobby they are being protected from competition.

It's easy to sit in judgement of the need for reform if you are healthy, have insurance coverage and a MD, BUT in my 20 years I see more people than you can imagine using the ER for primary care, I used to find it easy to judge, too.

After years of witnessing the plight of families and individuals and now knowing that at any time I am a breath from being there myself I have opened my eyes.

Our health care system is BROKEN I speak as a RN and a chronically ill patient with an incurable disease. If you think your doctor decides your care your very MISTAKEN.

Insurance companies decide your care. They have a monopoly and are holding us along with our doctors hostage. Why do you think insurance companies are so afraid of competition.

We're going to pay for the healthcare needs of others to be meet one way or another...1. the way we are with higher premiums and less coverage, or 2. we can address this situation head on and attempt to fix it now while we have the backing of a President who understands first hand what it is to see his Mom suffer and die battling insurance.

It's time to cut the Republican/Democratic lines and do what's right, not what's profitably for a few.The last few years have been the first time in my career I see MD's wanting out of medicine. Wake up smell the coffee before it's to late, ask questions, become knowledgable, don't take other peoples word for it especially those that stand to prosper financially.

I know you think none of this can happen to you, and I pray it doesn't, but you never know what tomorrow holds I am proof of that.
