Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with cellulitis, a serious and deadly staph infection. I was laid off in February and have no health insurance. I was treated at a local sliding scale clinic and was "this" close to being put in the hospital. If that had happened, I would have been financially ruined ... homeless and penniless.

I must have angels. I only had to pay for three doctor's visits and two different kinds of antibiotics (thanks to a prescription program for generic drugs, I was able to shave the cost of drugs but one of them was $3 a pill!!!). And because I have more than $2500.00 in my bank account, I cannot get public assistance! If I had less, I wouldn't make it through one month of expenses, so I'd still be homeless. NO WIN!

I still live in fear of this thing recurring, or, God Forbid, something else happening. If it does, it has to be fatal because I don't want to live to face the bills! All of this just doesn't make sense. I'm university educated, am a good earth steward, pay my taxes, work hard and live in integrity. Yet any illness or disease could render me living in my car eating worms.

Please please please find a way to help folks like me!

Thank you for listening.
