Dear President Obama, please read my true health care story. Im 52 years old and back when HMO'S first started out, I for one got caught up in the private (hmo) insurance nightmare. I was often denied good health care and sent home without proper testing. I remember many times I was so sick, I could not stand the pain any longer. I sometimes would cry out loud as a result of pain. This went on for many years. This while in an HMO network or I had no insurance due to it being canceled as a result of some other "pre exsisting" condition. One day I was in such pain and I was bleeding so hard I thought I was going to die. I called my doctor after hours and I asked for help. No use going to the emergency room, as I have had to go many times as a result of the strong pain and heavy bleeding I had. I was sent home and told to call my doctor. It was always the same thing. Nothing was done for many years later. And so, I suffered. Anyway, one day I called my doctor after hours and he told me to come into the office. I thought it would be the same old thing. See the doc and then get sent home and told there was nothing wrong. But, on this one occasion, my doctor said he wanted to do a total hystorectomy in the operating room as soon as possible. Mr. President, you might ask me why he wanted to do that? He had no choice Mr.President. As it turned out, I had a slow growing tumor which was two times the size of my uterus, which had its own blood supply and was attached to the outside of my uterus and was also crushing my left ovary. This was all confirmed by my doctor after the surgery. So, as a result of not getting proper health care in time and being put off at other times, I had to go through all the years of pain and heavy bleeding only to lose my reproductive organs in the end. By the way, The large tumor was benign so if health care would have been provided sooner, I would not have had to lose my reproductive organs. Thank you for allowing me to share my true story. I know I can never have children ever again and I was young enough to do just that when this happened to me. However, I hope that by telling my story others will not have to go through the pain and loss I had to. We need good health care for everyone now.
